Electronics, sensor integration, embedded software and power management for a battery-powered NIR spectrometer.
A battery-powered near-infrared spectrometer needed to combine sensors, touch controls and wireless communication in a portable device.
Electronics, sensors, operating system, power management and communication needed to be designed together within the constraints of a portable, battery-powered device.
ProDyne’s responsibilities ranged from component selection, electronics and PCB design to sensor integration and embedded software using Yocto Embedded Linux and an RTOS. Battery and power management, suspend and low-power modes, and OTA updates were part of the system.
The result was a connected device whose electronics, operating system, communication and application were developed together.
Production volumes, battery life, measurement accuracy and series-production details are not covered by this case study.
